Setting Up E-Mail: General Guide
Need to set up mail on a system besides Outlook® Express, Office Outlook, or Thunderbird™? You have dozens of different options for mail programs, and even portable devices. It would be impossible to provide an in-depth guide to every single one, but these general guidelines will help you set up mail in any program on any system:
- Your username is your complete E-Mail address, including the @ sign and domain name. (myusername@mydomain.com)
- Your incoming mail server is a POP3 server (sometimes just called POP).
- Your incoming mail server is mail.emr.net.
- Your outgoing mail server is mail.emr.net.
- Your outgoing mail server must be set up to use SMTP authentication.
- If your ISP is Cox, do not use mail.emr.net as your outgoing mail server, Use smtp.west.cox.net instead.
- If your ISP is Qwest, do not use mail.emr.net as your outgoing mail server, use smtp.qwest.net instead.
